25/03/2015 – Laundrapp, the on-demand laundry and dry cleaning app, today announced it has closed a £4 million funding round, backed by a powerful group of investors including Michael Spencer, founder of interdealer broker ICAP plc, and Jeff Blue, the former strategic development director at Sports Direct International.
The funding will enable Laundrapp’s continued rapid expansion across the UK and a substantial investment in marketing.
Co-founded by Dom Perks and Ed Relf, Laundrapp offers customers a full dry cleaning and laundry service, using an app on their smartphones and free collection and delivery. The whole service takes the stress out of washing at competitive prices. The service launched in January 2015 and is already operating in three cities across the UK with a view for further expansion in the coming months.
IPGL, Michael Spencer’s private investment group was a cornerstone investor in the funding round whilst he also invested on a personal basis. As part of the expansion drive, Tina Kilmister-Blue, chief executive of IPGL, is joining the Laundrapp board.
“I wish Laundrapp had existed when I was a young broker,” said Spencer. “It would have made my life so much easier. So when they pitched the idea to me I was hooked right away and I am convinced this will be a big success.”
Dom Perks, Laundrapp’s chairman and co-founder, said: “we are delighted to have closed this funding round and to have attracted such significant investors. This gives us the firepower to go out and make Laundrapp the solution to everyone’s washday woes.”
Ed Relf, Laundrapp’s CEO and co-founder added: “Our ambition is to disrupt an entire industry ripe for smart technology and innovation. We have the model, the technology and the commercial partners to revolutionise an entire industry, we’re creating a remote control for people’s laundry and we’re overwhelmed by the positive response!”
Laundrapp is run by a team of experienced technologists, and entrepreneurs.
